was down 8 points at 24,676. Brokers said fresh round of selling by
foreign investors amid muted expectations of fourth-quarter results and a
weak Asian trend, tracking overnight losses at the US markets on
growing concern about the state of the global economy, hit sentiment here.

Moody’s downgrades Reliance
Communications’ ratings to ‘negative’ from ‘stable’, citing persistent delays
in the company’s sale of non-core assets. Shares of Reliance Communications
were down by 0.90 per cent at Rs 49.75.
According to
PTI, cash-rich public sector firms ONGC, NTPC and Coal India were
asked to adopt one shut urea plant each for revival which would cost about
Rs 18,000 crore over the next four years. NTPC shares were trading higher
by 0.83 per cent, while Coal India was down by 0.57 per cent.
