The BSE Sensex opened higher by 91 points at 31896, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 21 points at the 9807 mark.
ITC was top Sensex gainer and was trading at Rs 333.8 per share, up by 1.55% whereas ONGC was top Sensex loser and was trading at Rs 162 per share, down by 0.09% at the opening bell on Thursday.
BSE Mid-cap index was trading at 15177 level, up by 93 points while BSE Small-cap index was trading at 15981 level, up by 84 points. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation was top gainer in Mid-cap index while Lypsa Gems was top gainer in Small-cap index.
