Share market update: Auto shares in the red; Tata Motors slips 4%

NEW DELHI: Auto shares were trading in the red in Monday's morning session.

Shares of Tata Motors (down 4.61 per cent), Motherson Sumi SystemsNSE -3.78 % (down 4.13 per cent), Amara Raja BatteriesNSE -1.97 % (down 2.18 per cent) and TVS Motor Company (down 1.19 per cent) were trading lower.

Bharat Forge (down 1.12 per cent), Exide Industries (down 0.88 per cent), Ashok Leyland (down 0.67 per cent) and Bajaj Auto (down 0.53 per cent) too were trading lower.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 94.05 points at 11,618.20 while the BSE Sensex was down 326.88 points at 38,636.38.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 11 were trading in the green, while 39 were in the red

Shares of Vodafone Idea, ONGC, YES Bank, Tata Motors, SAIL, ICICI Bank, Ashok Leyland, Tata Steel, Motherson Sumi, Infosys, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Indian Oil Corp, Bank of Baroda, Hindalco Inds. and JSW Steel were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
